Mr. President, Members of the Security Council,
I am grateful for the opportunity to brief you again on the situation in Sudan.
The members of the Security Council expressed serious concern about the military takeover in Sudan on 25 October, the suspension of some transitional institutions,the declaration of a state of emergency, and the detention of Prime Minister Abdal
The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the attempt on 21 September to disrupt Sudan’s transition by force.

The Security Council today decided to terminate the mandate of the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in the Sudan (UNITAMS) under resolution 2579 (2021) and begin winding down its operations over a three-month period slated to end on 29 February 2024.
