Trilateral Mechanism: We will make every effort to facilitate the Sudanese-led and owned political process
Representatives of the Trilateral Mechanism were guests on the fifth episode of the “In Their Premises” programme, hosted by Mr. Shawky Abdel-Azim on Nuuar Media platform.
The three officials addressed all spectrums of the Sudanese people, calling for overcoming differences for the sake of advancing the country.
In answering the questions of Mr. Shawky Abdel-Azim and the journalists participating in the episode, his Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Belaiche, Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission in Sudan; Dr. Volker Perthes, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, and Head of UNITAMS Mission in Sudan; Mr. Mohamed Younis, Special Adviser and Representative of the IGAD Envoy in Sudan, explained that every process faces some types of risks, but the Trilateral job is to help and facilitate this process, to overcome the risks and remove the obstacles.
In the same vein, the head of UNITAMS, Volker Perthes, emphasized that "the Trilateral Mechanism does not manage the political process, but rather facilitates it. The Sudanese are the ones who own and lead this political process. This is very important because in the end, it is the Sudanese who will reach a consensus, not the international parties."
The representatives of the Trilateral Mechanism also stressed the importance of adhering to the political process and not allowing the recent rains to hinder the path, stressing that Sudan and the Sudanese deserve better.
